"I’m asking for your vote to serve as your next Tacoma Municipal Court Judge. I’m running to give back to our community and make our city safer. I’ve spent most of my adult life, and the entirety of my legal career, here in Tacoma after graduating from Law School at the University of Puget Sound. My wife’s family has lived in Tacoma for generations and my kids attend Tacoma Public Schools. My Judicial Philosophy is one of Compassionate Accountability. I love our City, and I want to make its Court System the best it can be.
I deeply believe in public service. For the past several years I’ve worked as a Staff Attorney with the Northwest Justice Project, providing civil legal aid to low-income families and veterans. Prior to that, I owned my own law firm in Tacoma where I was proud to be able to provide award winning pro-bono service to our community resulting in the receipt of the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association’s Holzman Humanitarian Award. Simultaneously, I served for twenty-four years in the Army Reserve Judge Advocate Generals Corps, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. One of my finest military achievements was receiving the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
I see being a Judge as a continuation of my serving the public. As Judge, I promise to serve you with honor, integrity and distinction. Judges must have deep knowledge of the law, balanced experience, and the confidence of the legal community. I have 28 years of Court Room experience and I am the only candidate to have served as a prosecutor and a defender. That’s why I have the unanimous endorsement of the Judges in Pierce County Superior and District Court, 6 of our 9 Supreme Court Justices and many retired judges, attorneys, labor unions, and community leaders. It’s also why I am the only candidate to have been rated “Exceptionally Well Qualified” for Judge by the 3 major local Bar Associations. I believe my record proves that I will bring these qualities to the Court, and I hope to earn your vote.
